6 Favorite Binders for Biohackers

I discovered the true meaning of binders over the last few years. Here I want to explain what they are and what they are used for. I leaned about them kind of at the same time when I started understanding the toxic overload most of our bodies are going through. I myself have been using them regularly and am excited to share my favorites.

There are many types of binders and essentially what they do is sweep up the mess. What do I mean by that? Well sometimes when we have too many toxins in our system, our body struggles to move as fast as the toxin amount would require. So most of you will say but our bodies naturally know how to detoxify. Yes. That is true. However did you know that we are currently exposed to way more chemicals than our forefathers ever were. Relatively unstudied chemicals are being produced at substantial rates. According to the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society, there are at least 100 million potential new contaminants for humans to deal with today.

To me that means that we have to assist our bodies by supporting our detox pathways. Having air filters in our home, using not toxic bedding and furniture and aiding our detox pathways are some ways we can support lessening our toxic burden.

So binders stop and trap some of these toxins and help you remove them from your body. They especially useful when you are activating your natural detoxification. Meaning when you sweat, or have a bowel movement, get a massage or activate your lymphatic system (trampoline, vibrating plate) and anything that gets the body in movement.

When we add binders to our daily routine we are assisting our bodies to remove the most amount of toxins. Generally this tends to make people feel better, lighter and with more energy.

There are many types of binders here I’ll list a few – all have special qualities and work better than others under specific detox circumstances.

Pure Body Zeolite

This is by far one of my favorites. It is a great binder for people just starting out with binders and can be used on children as well. We use this in my family daily.

Organifi shilajit

Shilajit is a black tar like substance found in the Himalayan mountains. It contains more than 40 different minerals, including fulvic acid and humic acid, which are shown to bind to a variety of toxins, improve endothelial function, and support a healthy microbiome. Shilajit may support healthy aging, increase the body’s ability to rejuvenate tissue, increase metabolism, boost the immune system, promote digestive health, and even help strengthen bones. Fulvic and humic acid explained:

Humic Acid: Humic acids are fully decomposed remains of organic life plants and microbial organisms. It is rich in carbon and has a high molecular weight, making it a large and complex molecule.

Fulvic Acid: Fulvic acid, on the other hand, is a derivative of humic acid and is characterized by its smaller molecular size and lower molecular weight. Fulvic acid has unique properties that enable it to interact with cells and biological molecules more readily.

One of the primary ways in which humic and fulvic acids contribute to detoxification is by binding to toxins and harmful substances in the body. They act as natural chelators, forming complexes with heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, and other environmental toxins. Once bound, these complexes are often rendered less harmful and more easily excreted from the body.

All that being said I have to say I really don’t love the taste of Shilajit, generally it comes in a super gooey tar like substance that tastes well like sticky earth. Until now!!!! Equilife Binder

This is a great cross the bord universal binder. It enhances your body’s ability to safely remove toxins. Because activated charcoal’s porous surface has a negative electrical charge, it attracts positively charged molecules such as toxins and gases for safe removal from the GI tract. In hospital emergency rooms, a high single-use dosage of activated charcoal is most commonly used as an emergency overdose or anti-poison treatment.

Dulce

Dulce is a seaweed and is a beautiful natural binder with many incredible nutrients. It is a fantastic food for helping to remove toxic heavy metals, radiation, pesticides, and other toxins from the body. This seaweed binds to mercury, aluminum, lead, copper, cadmium, and nickel. Unlike other seaweeds, Atlantic dulse is a powerful force for helping to remove mercury on its own. It travels into deep, hidden places of the gut and digestive tract, seeking out mercury, binding to it, and never releasing it until it leaves the body.

Binders should be taken away from food so as not to interfere with nutrients. It is recommended to take them at least 30 minutes before eating or 1 – 2 hours after eating. You should also wait before taking any other supplements or medications. Charcoal should be taken 3 hours away from food, supplements, or medications.

Binders can also be taken in larger doses when dealing with herheimer reactions. I for instance take them when I use my infra red sauna to help me collect the toxins as I am sweating them out.

When having a histamine flare it is useful to take zeolite consecutively over a few hour period and can potentially help resolve the histamine response.

The breakthrough of DNA testing

Honestly I cannot share enough how excited I am about doing my own DNA test – I don’t mean to sound like a broken record but at this point I have been to cardiologists, psychologist, naturopaths, functional doctors, dark field microscope specialists and even an intuitive healing medium.

Longhaul Covid took me for a loop to say the least, through trial and error I have found amazing companies that have supported me along the journey! To be honest though most of all of the things that helped me I found myself through trail and error and some of my own logic.

That being said through one of many health summits I attended over the last two years I came across one company, The DNA company, that stopped me in my tracks! I heard the CEO speak about your genetic disposition and what you could do to support your body by knowing your DNA – and something lit up inside of me and all of a sudden I could not fathom how nobody had pointed me in that direction before!

5 Things to stock up on in case there are shortages

Happy New Year everyone!!! As some of you may already know I have been on an extreme healing journey for the last two years of my life. Ultimately what I’ve learnt is that no matter how bad things get, if we are alive and breathing we probably have at least one thing to be grateful for! I am grateful for my family! As quite a few of you know my COVID journey has been a very long one. I contracted this malicious virus in March of 2020 and have been on a path to recovery ever since. 5 Ultimate Travel Biohacks

You are not the only one that fears traveling in this daunting time. I was already quite specific about my travel biohacks to beat jet lag previous to all the madness. Now however it is more important than ever to have your travel kit with you and feel as confident as you can about doing your best to keep your body safe while on the road. 1. Bee Keeper’s Naturals

In general, bee products are amazing for the immune system. From royal jelly, to bee pollen, to propolis the hive is one of the first places I go to when feeding my body with immune boosters. Our favourite month has arrived, Plastic Free July! In lieu of this month we want to highlight some of the brands that we have found over the last months that are trying to do just that, reduce plastic and protect our environment. Sustainable Tomorrow has surprised us with various really handy products. What we most love is the eco conscious electric toothbrush with replaceable bamboo toothbrush heads. It is also really cool that they even make a bamboo toothbrush that fits on to your philips electric toothbrush and the best part is these bamboo replacements are compostable! Pretty much a no brainer if you ask me.

Unfortunately micro plastics are showing up everywhere on earth even in a mothers womb- this is simply devastating. The only way to put and end to it is to refuse using plastic as much as possible. There are so many ways that this stuff is getting into the ocean even your clothes, wearing and purchasing synthetic fabrics puts micro plastics into the oceon every single wash. So many people are still not aware of this and it is up to us and the people that are reading these words right now to help raise awareness. We have to do it together because it is our duty for mother earth.

Some of the most common everyday things is what is found in the ocean the most! Cotton ears swa b s, it is so simple to switch to biodegradable ones! Our toothbrushes and razors – if one billion people went for the sustainable option we would be on our way to a better world. It is about leading by example and waking each other up. Instead of bringing cut flowers to someones house why not bring them a box of bamboo toothbrushes…. they are sure to need and use them sometime and you can get into the conversation of why it is so important to no longer purchase plastic ones… just a small idea – and what the heck – everyone brushes their teeth don’t they?

Razors are also such a detriment, disposable plastic razors…but why are we still not considering this? There are other options even companies that at least make them with recycled plastics, not the best but a step in the right direction. Sustainable tomorrow makes a beautiful metal butterfly razor. You will never have to use plastic again!

Or be it in the kitchen, there are so many great options of soap bars and beautiful holders, bamboo dish brushes and so much more. You do not have to support brands that are polluting our planet.

Last but not least I want to mention one of my very favourite household items that has been reducing so much plastic waste in our household. It took me a while to find a good product that actually worked but I have never been happier about doing my laundry with TruEarth there is absolutely ZERO plastic waste with this product, it comes in small strips in a very thin cardboard envelope. No more huge bottles of plastic laundry detergent!

You get the point friends there are plenty of ways we can step up to the plate and be more conscious about plastic consumption. Sorry that I go on and on about the subject but I truly find it to be so important. Remember every dollar we lay down casts a vote for the future we are going to live in. So open your eyes and realise that your vote counts! The day you make a more sustainable choice for your home truly does make a difference for the collective. Let’s get it right for our future generations!

The Perfect Organic Sustainable Kite

Flying a sustainable kite is such a magical experience. It is no coincidence when you fly one that all the children gather around eagerly and want to take a turn. As do the adults. The wondrous act of launching a kite into the sky and watching it soar above you. It is mesmorizing and in a way it can be a beautiful meditative process also for us adults. We love Little Cloud Kites!

I remember when I was a kid and we used to go to the hill to fly the kite. It was not very often, but every time we went felt like a “special day”. Walking with that purpose, hoping for wind, searching for the area without trees. Rigging the kite was always exciting, since it was such a seldom experience, every time there was those couple of steps where you weren’t sure how to do it, and it is certainly simple; I guess being excited makes you want to do things faster.

Well, we have re-created that moment, that emotion with our new “KITE”; Atlantis, our son was always curious about kites when we saw them from the playground, and now he is enjoying his a lot.

Mum normally raises the kite and Atlantis takes over and flies it for a while; we ask for wishes, since the kite is closer to the sky and takes messages from us back to the main land.

If I am lucky, I get a turn to fly the kite too, since every time we fly it, there are children gathering around to chase its shadow or eagerly stand in line to take a turn holding the spool. It provokes many smiles, fun, joy and happiness, and it is only a kite!!

It is amazing that although the construction is quite simple this kite flies batter than any I have flown. Simple yet it soars higher than any other and it looks phenomenal when flying.

This one, we explain, is made consciously; the wood used comes from a man who provides FCS certified wood and carves the different parts with his own hands; the fabric comes from India and it has been hand painted in Canada; the line is hemp, once again grown sustainably. Now, once you grab the handle you connect with nature, it is magical how the kite makes you feel the wind gusts, makes you realise when it is comfortable up there, and when it needs and extra push or wants to turn a little. When you look at it, you automatically come here and now, such a simple beautiful way to look up and admire how beautiful the blue sky is and the clouds, you see butterflies and dragonflies passing by, the experience is phenomenal. There is nothing quite like it and you are out in the fresh air catching a breeze on your face.
