The importance of wearing organic cotton on my skin when I exercise and sweat is something that I truly value. We are so excited to introduce you to this brand. I myself have always felt guilty when buying a yoga mat because in the end I know how much I use it and how it wears down and then I have to buy another. That really means the world to me. So when we are done and they are worn we will bury them under the ground with our compost and give back to nature what it has let us use! A Christmas Story

In our family it has always been tradition to sit by the tree on Christmas eve and read old traditional Christmas stories. My grandparents would print out stories and songs and hand them out to all their grandchildren. There was something very endearing about this tradition that I have fond memories of and in my own way, to this day I still try to recreate it every year. This year I am especially excited because our little toddler is almost three and he loves a good story. He has us reading him so many books, every night, before he goes to sleep. So I chose an old classic to read to him by the Christmas tree this year and thought I would share it incase you would like to do the same.

A Visit from St. Nicholas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the housetop the coursers they flew
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too—
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry. His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight—
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”

Organic Basics is focused on sustainability from start to finish even their web site is low impact. I really like this bra. It feels supportive yet comfortable and it is made from another great fabric called Tencel. An eco-friendly, sustainable fabric made from wood pulp. It is a biodegradable fibre that is softer and lighter than cotton and more breathable it almost feels like silk. It fairs well after washing it and has a really snug fit.

They also have wonderful organic cotton options as well as recycled merino wool accessories. I personally like to use my Tencel undies for when I exercise. As the fabric is really great at absorbing moisture. I highly recommend you try it if you like to exercise.

When it comes to underwear I absolutely cannot leave out one of my most beloved fabrics: Bamboo! Hara delivers just that, beautiful designs with absolute ultra comfort. This fabric is beyond soft, to tell you the truth it is another must have. I love wearing this fabric when I am lounging at home or cuddling with my hubby watching a movie. I love the way it feels against my skin and I got the cutest powder blue bralette, undies and t-shirt.

Here in Hawaii I can literally hang out in these all day, all year long. The bra I got is definitely for smaller bust sizes but they also have sturdier options for bigger busts. Yet again I chose the high rise (it’s my thing right now) makes me feel like a 50’s starlet.

I am not a big fan of a full pyjama… so this is definitely my go to sleep wear…. just feels so nice in my bamboo sheets. Also I can throw the t-shirt on over a pair of leggings and go about my day. I really love the weight of bamboo, it is slightly heavier than cotton and just always hangs nicely on the body. Trust me and try it you will definitely not be disappointed. If you are a mother and anything like me then you are always looking for the best eco friendly toddler toys. We evaluate these brands and toys by the way they are made, the companies values and most importantly how much our toddler likes them and uses them in his every day life.

1- MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

We absolutely love this wooden drum kit that we purchased. For us musical instruments play a great part of what we want our little one to grow up around! We have flutes, Caracas, harmonicas and even a baby piano but what he has most fun on is banging those drums. This store has so many fantastic ideas you will surely find something you love and you can search by age which makes it all that much easier to navigate, especially when buying gifts for others.

Musical Instruments are really great for learning hand eye coordination and if you don’t mind a little noise making these are well worth the fun. This is also a really great eco-friendly set or this adorable Banjo.

2- WOODEN RAILWAY SET

We got ours second hand from several mothers. What is great about them is they are all generally compatible with each other. I am not sure who loves this toy more our son or his dad, wether it be playing alone or with friends this toy provides hours of fun. It never gets boring because you can always set up new tracks. After doing some extensive research we found a few sets that we wanted to recommend. I truly recommend this for both boys and girls!

We believe puzzles are really an amazing toy! You can always entice your children by getting prints of things they love! Everything from floor puzzles to wooden puzzles. They are really great for developing perseverance, problem solving and eye hand coordination. Overcoming the challenges of puzzling gives them a sense of pride and self esteem. 4-TOY KITCHEN

This is truly another all time favourite for us and so many parents we know. Whether you have a boy or a girl, kids love watching and emulating their parents. Unless you are extremely blessed with someone that cooks for you chances are your kids see it a lot and want to be part of the fun. Our son will make me full meals in his little kitchen and he really takes great pride in cutting his fruit and vegetables on his cutting board. As far as I can remember from friends with older kids this is a toy that lasts a long time because even 6 and 7 year olds have fed me their make believe meals when visiting friends. These are a few we found that we really liked.
